VINYASA YOGA

Vinyasa Yoga connects one posture to the next using the breath. Classes are light-hearted and offer a variety of postures; no two classes are ever alike. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace. 

The variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries that can happen if you are always doing the same thing every day.

All levels welcome & no experience necessary. Props and modifications offered for proper alignment and ease in the postures.

When: Wednesday 18.30-19.30 and Sunday 10.00-11.00

Cost: £10 per class or £45 for a 5 class pass

Cancellation Policy: Your booking is really important; it's reserved especially for you.  We respectfully ask for 512 hours notice for cancellations on Vinyasa classes; cancellations without 12 hours notice are non-refundable.

 

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Sometimes you’ve just got to slow everything right down…
When life is racing full-speed ahead, so is your mind and our nervous system takes a beating. We can end up feeling easily overwhelmed, tired and burnt out. 

So what is Restorative Yoga? 

Restorative yoga classes are relaxing and slow paced, with a whole sequence using as few as five or six postures which are held for long periods of time.   Props, such as bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps used to allow the body to be in the most comfortable, supported position possible.

Restorative Yoga is like a calming hug for your overstimulated mind

Modern day stressful living means that for most of us our sympathetic nervous system (fight to flight) is constantly firing without any real opportunity of quieting – we are constantly in a state of flight or fight. Restorative Yoga is a perfect antidote. With it’s emphasis on deliberately slowing down and optimal comfort and ease, the practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for resting and digesting, restoring easy breathing, lowering blood pressure and heart rates, relaxing tension, and bringing greater balance.

Beginner's Yoga

Have you ever wanted to start Yoga but not known where to start?!

I hear ya!

I understand that Yoga can sometimes feel confusing or intimidating; I remember I spent my first few classes wondering what on earth was going on!  That's why I created a beginner's Yoga course running for 5 weeks, so we work from the foundations; building your practice and your confidence.

I love teaching these classes; seeing people begin to break down misconceptions about Yoga and themselves, is so rewarding.  I would love to practice with you!

yang yin YogA & MINDFULLness

A perfect combination of a fun flowing vinyasa practice to energise, followed by Yin to stretch tired muscles and mindfulness to soothe our soul. The class is open to all levels, including complete beginners.  

So what is Yin // Yang yoga ?

Yang (Vinyasa) relates to movement, often repetitive, which creates heat in the body; working with fire, masculine dynamic energy. By contrast Yin is about finding stillness and cooling the body; working with the feminine, receptive energy. This Yin and Yang energy is opposing but complementary, and so for optimum health, needs to be balanced.

In Yin yoga, seated or reclined poses are held for a longer period with active muscle engagement; to increase range of motion in that part of the body. The poses work along meridian lines, used in Chinese Medicine, which act as “energy highways,” for the body.

Beach Yoga

Summers in Jersey are best spent outside, immersed in nature, making the most of our beautiful beaches.. which is why I love teaching Yoga on the beach throughout the summer.  During the summer you can find me on Saturday’s (weather permitting) at Le Braye for Beach Yoga - classes are confirmed each week on my Facebook page.  No booking or previous Yoga experience is needed... just turn up and I'll see you in the sand!

Time: 9.30 - 10.30

Where: Le Braye beach (to the left of the slip)

Cost: £5

What to bring: A mat or towel, suncream, sunglasses, water... and the sunshine!

Inclement weather: Classes are weather dependant, and if I have to cancel them due to bad weather, I will announce it on my Facebook page: facebook.com/vanessagarrettyoga a minimum of 1 hour before
